Case Western Reserve University School of Engineering
As part of their annual 'eWeek' (Engineers Week) celebration the Case School of Engineering organizes a Lego Robotics Competition for local area high school students.  The robots might be built with Legos but they are programmed with the programming language NQC.  Student programmers and builders worked together in teams of 3 to construct 3 different robots for the competition last year.  One of our teams made it through the elimination rounds to the quarter-finals but was stopped by an unfortunate collision that evaded the robot's sensors.

Students have learned from the events of past competitions and use that knowledge to improve on our designs and program.  We have been attending the eWeek Lego Robotics Competition since the 2002-2003 school year and we look forward to this year's event.

First Robotics Competition
FIRST is an acronym that stands for For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.  US First is the Foundation that runs the renowned FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition).  The FRC is a National Competition that consists of not only high school students but also professional engineers, technicians, sponsors that serve as mentors to the students.  FIRST promotes the concept of "Gracious Professionalism" as their way of fostering intense competition but balancing it with a spirit of community and mutual respect.

St. Edward High School sponsored a team for the 2002-03 and 2003-04 competitions with the help of NASA to compete at the "Buckeye Regional" event at the Wolstein Center of CSU.  We returned for the 2006-2007 season with the help of an anynomous donor.  This year we are soliciting sponsors, planning early, and getting ready for the new season.
